Showcasing the best of cancer nursing

This month, we shine a spotlight on pain management. Managing pain can be challenging particularly as it is not visible, and the complexities associated with it – such as fear and the social barriers created by it – are often hidden. While the concept of pain is explored in this month's opinion, our evidence and practice article offers a tool that can help manage pain in advanced cancer settings.

As 2017 draws to a close, I would like to invite nurses and their colleagues to write for the journal, whether for an opinion piece, feature or evidence and practice article. Most nurses tell me they would like to write for us, but don’t know how to get started. Our Write for us page gives excellent tips and sample articles to help you do that but feel free to contact me for further guidance.
At RCNi, we not only showcase nursing triumphs through written articles, but recognise their contribution through our annual nurse awards. In addition to the RCN Nurse of the Year Award, there are two cancer award categories. See our feature on this year’s winners and how you can nominate a colleague or enter yourself for 2018.
Having only been in post for a few months, I would like to thank all for giving me a warm welcome into the cancer field and I also want to say a special thank you to my consultant editor Carole Farrell for her contribution and support.
