Love the NHS – Return to the Bank

We have seen a significant increase in demand for temporary staff over the past few years, with the number of nursing hours that 62 trusts requested per month doubling, from around 650,000 in April 2012 to 1.3 million in April 2015.

NHS Professionals logoTo meet this demand, we have been working in partnership with our client Trusts up and down the country to deliver a nationwide recruitment campaign, targeting both nursing staff who work substantively and those that may have recently left their Trusts to retire or start a family.

The in-house bank offers great opportunities for those who want to work flexibly or pick up additional shifts on top of their full time work. A Trust will always use the bank in the first instance when they’re looking to provide cover for planned and unplanned shortfalls in staffing, using agencies as a last resort. This means that nurses who work through the bank are guaranteed the first choice of shifts and are able to pick and choose when they work and in areas that suit them. Other benefits of working through NHS Professionals include weekly pay, complete control of when you work and access to free training and development.

Registering with NHS Professionals is quick and simple. There are two ways you can do this depending on whether you have a full time position at a Trust or want to work through NHS Professionals as a Bank Only worker.

If you work substantively you can join the bank through the following:

Complete a registration form and gather relevant verification documents.

Meet with your ward manager for allocation of assignment codes and registration authorisation.

Meet with your dedicated on-site team taking all relevant documents with you.

Your login details will be sent to you within a week and you will be able to view and book suitable shifts via NHSP:Online our shift booking system.

If you have previously worked at one of our client Trusts but aren’t currently employed by them, you can join NHS Professionals as a Bank Only nurse. You will need to:

Select the Trust you have worked at.

Contact your dedicated on-site team and arrange to meet with them with your ‘Right to Work’ documents.

Once you have completed your registration the average time until you could be working within the NHS Family is 6 weeks*.
