Brought to you by Learning Disability Practice and RCNi, it follows our previous successful conferences in Manchester. Last year’s event had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, but now we’re back – albeit online because of ongoing concerns about the pandemic.

Mindful of the fact that many of us are spending a little too much time in front of a computer screen than is good for us, and to fit over lunchtime, we are keeping the event to an hour and a half with time for questions.

The event is free and takes place on Wednesday 3 November from 12pm–1.30pm.

Who are our online speakers?

Roger Banks, national clinical director, learning disability and autism, NHS England and NHS Improvement, will be providing the big picture and a glimpse into what lies ahead for the sector.

And James Ridley, senior lecturer in nurse education and learning disability, Edge Hill University, speaks on a human rights-based approach to restrictive practice and restraint.

Other participants joining us for a panel discussion include Michael Brown, professor of nursing and director of graduate studies, Queen’s University Belfast, and consultant editor of Learning Disability Practice.

In 2019 we were part of the anniversary celebrations for the 100 years of learning disability nursing. This year, we continue in that spirit of optimism, but look ahead to the future and provide you with some tips and advice for your practice.
