Although we all experience bereavement at some point in our lives, the experience of bereavement is unique to everyone. To achieve a natural resolution, a person needs to reach a place of acceptance. However, some people become stuck in this process, which can be described as experiencing a complicated grief reaction. There are a number of different approaches to bereavement counselling, which studies indicate is effective in reducing the risk of psychiatric disorders as a result of bereavement.
