This article describes a patient satisfaction audit of a nurse-led clinic for cancer care follow-up. The clinic, which was run by an experienced lung cancer clinical nurse specialist, began in November 2004 in one Foundation NHS Hospital Trust in South West England. Data were collected using a questionnaire, from an evaluation of the first seven months of the clinic’s existence. Although the findings must be viewed tentatively because of unavoidable methodological weaknesses, our results indicate that patients were satisfied with many aspects of the new service. They also illustrate how service redesign can take place as a result of national policy and clinical guidance, and are an example of evidence-based service development for lung cancer patients.
