Collaborative working between multidisciplinary members of the healthcare team can provide a framework in which health professionals can continually assess, measure and improve the quality of patient care. Central venous catheter placement is one specialty where collaborative care can enhance the contribution of diverse practitioners to allow successful outcomes for patients with cancer. This article details the implementation of a collaborative care strategy within the context of a peripherally inserted central catheter service at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.
