<p>A preliminary audit revealed that only half of GP referrals for suspected lung cancer were benefiting from an effective specialist nurse support service within the respiratory team in a county hospital. This article discusses how this clinical practice problem was addressed with the involvement of fellow healthcare professionals and patients to implement an effective support service for those suspected of having lung cancer.</p>
