Ankle sprain: how much do A&E staff know?
<p>Ankle injuries in the UK account for many patients attending A&E departments. Rourke (1994) suggests that ankle injuries make up 10 per cent of all emergency department visits. Adamson and Cymet (1997) suggest this figure is 12 per cent, and one German study estimates that nearly 30 per cent of all sports injuries involve ankles (Gondolph-Zink et al 1989).</p>
