<p>This article focuses on emergency nurse practitioners (ENPs) and the streaming of emergency care. It considers management issues associated with the introduction of an ENP service, such as recruitment, autonomy and empowerment, expanding roles and future developments. Definitions, models, principles and management styles are considered within a theoretical framework.</p>
