<p>Emergency nurse practitioners (ENPs) are considered integral to multidisciplinary teams working in A&E. The training these nurses receive is underpinned by a medical model so, in relation to practice, there is considerable blurring of professional boundaries between ENPs and doctors (Nolan 1995, Washbourne and Cox 2002).</p>
