ROBERT CROUCH and COLLEAGUES describe an innovative approach to managing patient care

This paper will describe an innovative project to improve patient care in an emergency department. We have termed it the minor (or major) Injuries/Illnesses nurse treatment service (MINTS). The project aim is to make optimal use of available skills and resources in developing an alternative approach to the conventional system for the assessment, treatment and management of patients.
