<p>Tetanus is a rare but fatal disease and immunisation against tetanus is a consideration when treating many A&E patients. This article explores the epidemiology, pathophysiology and management of clinical tetanus. It then discusses tetanus immunisation, including administration after injury and highlights those patients particularly at risk.</p>
