Treating leg ulcers

The Department of Health (2006) identifies that almost 18 million people attend A&E departments in England and Wales every year, which means that A&E nurses deal annually with a population equal to that of Australia. This suggests that, in the course of their work, they will encounter almost every Clinical condition (Walsh and Kent 2001) and it is reasonable therefore to expect emergency nurses to have a good working knowledge of both acute and chronic wound conditions.
