<p>This article compares the experiences of certified developmental disability nurses in the United States with those of registered nurses in learning disabilities, their nearest professional equivalents, in the UK. There are far fewer such nurses in the US, even though the country’s population is six times larger than that of the UK, yet both groups of professionals face similar struggles for recognition.</p>
