Prince says ‘no one should be bullied over sexuality’

Prince William has spoken out about the effects of homophobic bullying on people’s mental health, after becoming the first royal to appear on the cover of the gay magazine Attitude.

Having launched a campaign on mental health, he told the magazine: ‘No one should be bullied for their sexuality, or any other reason.’

Research published in 2015 showed that in England one third of young lesbian, gay or bisexual people and 48% of young trans people had made at least one suicide attempt, and 57% of young LGB people and 85% of young trans people had self-harmed, compared with 38% of young heterosexual people.
