Correct use of chlorhexidine in intravenous practice

<p>This article reviews the routes by which microorganisms may contaminate vascular access devices, and examines the role of chlorhexidine in the prevention of catheter-related bloodstream infections. Chlorhexidine-based cleansing products for use in intravenous therapy are reviewed and their correct use is discussed, with reference to clinical guidelines.</p>
