<p>It's almost 14 years since Baroness Cumberlege, in her review of community nursing services, first described the difficulties faced by community nurses caring for patients requiring wound care. Even though most community nurses are themselves experts in effective wound management, they must waste valuable time waiting for a doctor's signature on the prescription before they may treat the patient.</p>
