The Queen’s Nursing Institute, Scotland
<p>DEVOLUTION MAY be new to politicians in Scotland, but not to Queen's Nurses. In 1887, Queen Victoria gave a sum of £70,000, raised and presented to her as a jubilee gift by the women of the Empire, as a capital fund for a Home Nursing Service; The Queen Victoria Jubilee Institute for Nurses was founded. Within a year, a Scottish branch of the Institute was formed which, by 1893, was housed in its current headquarters, Castle Terrace, Edinburgh.</p>
