<p>Of the many people who experience a stroke each year, a significant proportion experience urinary incontinence as a consequence. This article considers the causes of incontinence following a stroke and the impact this has on the individual. The practice of assessing and promoting continence is then examined, together with the management of incontinence in these patients.</p>
