<p>This CPD article improved my knowledge of effective communication in breaking bad news, which is a frequent part of my new role in an adult hospice. Nurses have an important role in helping patients and families to prepare for, receive and assimilate bad news. It is essential that nurses are confident and competent to carry out this role.</p>
