<p>The contribution of clinical research to best practice in nursing was explored in this CPD article. To provide high quality care and to meet the individual care and health needs of patients, nursing practice needs to be evidence-based and up to date. Research in the form of clinical guidelines, policies and procedures is integral to patient care and the development of nursing practice.</p>
