<p>This article examines the development of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) for the treatment of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction in the UK. It discusses the evidence related to PPCI, the technological advances to improve accessibility to this treatment and the nursing care of a patient undergoing this procedure.</p>
