‘Gifted’ nurse awarded £41k for unfair dismissal by trust

Diabetes specialist nurse Susan Hamilton claimed a co-worker subjected her to ‘bullying tactics’ after a disagreement over a patient’s care at St Helier Hospital in south London. A tribunal judge found the hospital’s trust ‘failed, over a number of years, to take adequate action’. Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, which was ordered to pay Ms Hamilton £41,000 in compensation, is since understood to have introduced a training programme for managers and improved support for staff who raise concerns to ensure they feel supported at work.
