How do you take advanced nursing practice on to the streets?

In the latest episode of the Nursing Standard podcast, Rosa Ungpakorn talks about how her award-winning outreach project providing care to homeless people works.

Ms Ungpakorn, an advanced nurse practitioner, gives an insight into Westminster Street Nurse, which delivers on-the-spot clinical assessments, diagnosis and treatment to people who are sleeping rough on the streets.

Interpersonal approach and street outreach guidelines discussed

She also discusses the interpersonal approach she uses to help her patients, who have often had negative experiences of healthcare in the past.

In addition, Ms Ungpakorn talks about the RCN-endorsed national guidelines on health-related street outreach for people who are experiencing homelessness.

In 2020, she won the Advanced Nursing Practice category of the then RCNi Nurse Awards for this work.

The RCN Nursing Awards (formerly the RCNi Nurse Awards) are now open for entries. To take part, visit www.rcn-nursing-awards.co.uk
