Remote prescribing: is it ever good practice?

A nurse has been struck off by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) fitness to practise panel for prescribing Botox (botulinum toxin) remotely and unsafely. Guidance states it can only be prescribed following a face-to-face consultation with a patient. Remote prescribing is sometimes used in the management of long-term conditions and to improve access to care, but does it increase risk for both patients and nurse prescribers? We ask our Nursing Standard readers panel for their views.
