NHS organisations must do more to ensure that people with learning disabilities can access healthcare information and support to ensure high-quality care
Only one in three NHS trusts in England is fully complying with a legally-binding standard to help people with learning disabilities and sensory impairments access healthcare, according to data from Healthwatch England.
This is resulting in communication issues, such as deaf people being asked to book appointments over the telephone, blind people told to fill in paper forms, and people with learning disabilities not receiving accessible information.
