Less than a month to go before first-of-its-kind event with masterclasses, clinical demonstrations, careers advice, musical entertainment and a chance to mix with your peers
The countdown is on, with less the one month to go until Nursing Live – a trailblazing two-day celebration of nurses and nursing.
23 - 24 October 2024, ACC Liverpool

Taking place on 10 and 11 November at the ACC in Liverpool, the first-of-its-kind event run by RCNi will feature more than 100 expert talks, clinical demonstrations, musical entertainment and free yoga sessions. It will be packed with masterclasses for nurses at every stage in their career.

Joining the host of influential speakers is one of the country’s best-loved authors and poets, Michael Rosen, along with chief nursing officer (CNO) for England Dame Ruth May and RCN general secretary Pat Cullen, who will deliver a talk on the future of nursing.
Ms Cullen will also chair a discussion with the CNOs from the four UK countries, who will face questions from nurses about the challenges, priorities and concerns of front-line nursing staff.
‘Step away from the pressures of work, and have some fun’
Mr Rosen will read from his COVID patient’s diary, which nursing staff kept updated during his stay in hospital during his near-fatal COVID experience.
‘Nursing Live will give me another opportunity to express my gratitude to thousands of nurses, face to face,’ he said.
‘I also can’t think of a sector more deserving of an event with a focus on personal well-being, not to mention getting a chance to step away from the pressures of work, and having some fun.’
Learn about coping with stress
Nursing Live will also feature workshops from some of the profession’s most respected practitioners, including previous winner of the RCN’s Nurse of the Year award Nicola Bailey, who will run a session focused on coping with stress in the workplace.
She said: ‘Having something like Nursing Live, where nursing staff can come together, is a good thing because nobody outside of nursing really understands what you’re going through.’
Panel will focus on patients
A special patient-focused panel will also hear from the creator of the Talking With Cancer podcast Katie Phillips, and chair of the service user and carer group at Edge Hill University, Toni Bewley.
Joining them will be Jenny Clarke, mother of the Game of Thrones actress and RCN ambassador Emilia Clarke, who founded the SameYou charity that campaigns for better rehabilitation for patients following brain injury.

Let your hair down, sing and dance
Nursing Live will also see celebrity stylists Andrew and Liz Collinge take to the stage to give hair and beauty tips to nurses, while the Nursing Live choir will make its debut on 11 November, with nurses from across the country entertaining the crowd with classic pop, rock and soul tunes.
